I was triggered to learn more about the influence ‘our’ online behavior has, as well as how it reflects on cultural diversity in society. The increasing mobility, the huge number of social media platforms on which people interact nowadays, and also governmental policies linked to this increase of online and offline mobility, are topics I am interested in and was focused on in choosing a study. Hence, I chose Global Communication.

As a Dutch student within the program I somehow got the idea of being a foreigner in ‘my own surroundings’. This year, besides myself, all other students and most of the lecturers are non-native speakers of the Dutch language. The variety of perspectives they bring into the classes - perspectives that are (partly) based on different resources, work and life experiences, and personal interests - are really helpful to the interactive learning processes. I experience these factors to be great stimuli in trying to become a professional in the field of Global Communication.
